A liquid facelift, sometimes called an 8-point lift, facial balancing or face sculpting, uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler to rebuild the support the face loses with age. As the fat pads that give the face its youthful curves shrink and descend, the cheeks flatten, the temples hollow, folds deepen around the mouth and the jawline softens. Filler placed strategically along the bone and beneath the skin restores that scaffolding, so the face looks lifted, rested and better proportioned.
Because everything is planned together, less product goes further. Rebuilding the cheek, for example, often softens the nose-to-mouth fold on its own, so less is needed lower down. That is the difference between a liquid facelift and a collection of separate top-ups: better proportion, not more filler. Every filler we use is hyaluronic acid based and can be dissolved if ever needed. Results typically last 12 to 18 months, and individual results vary.
The full face approach addresses the cheeks and mid-face, the temples, the jawline and chin, the lips, the nasolabial folds and the marionette lines, with the tear troughs included where suitable. Most plans use 6ml to 8ml of filler spread across these areas, planned in a single design.
It suits anyone who feels their face has lost its shape or looks tired even after a good night’s sleep, and is a popular choice from the late thirties onwards. It is also increasingly chosen by clients who have lost weight quickly, including with GLP-1 medications, where rapid fat loss leaves the face hollow and drawn. A whole-face plan is usually the most natural way to restore that fullness.
The lower face approach focuses on the bottom third: the jawline from ear to chin, the chin itself, the small hollow in front of the jowl (the pre-jowl sulcus), the marionette lines that run from the mouth corners towards the chin, and the tissue that supports the lips. Plans typically use 3ml to 4ml of firmer, structural filler placed along the bone.
It is designed for early jowling, a jawline that has softened with age, a small or receding chin that throws the profile off balance, and downturned mouth corners that give an unintended sad or stern expression. Filler improves the jaw-to-neck angle but does not remove fat beneath the chin; where a double chin is the main concern we may discuss combining it with skin tightening at your consultation.
CONSULTATION
Your appointment starts with a face-to-face consultation with a GMC-registered doctor. We look at your face at rest and in movement, discuss what bothers you, and photograph your front and profile views. You leave with a written plan, the recommended volume and a confirmed price.
TREATMENT
Numbing cream is applied and the skin is cleaned. Filler is placed using a combination of fine needles and blunt-tipped cannulas, which reduce bruising and allow larger areas to be treated through a single entry point. Allow 45 to 60 minutes for a lower face plan and 60 to 90 minutes for a full face plan.
REVIEW
Any swelling settles over one to three days. We invite you back at two to four weeks to assess the final result once the filler has integrated, and to make any small refinements.

Immediately afterwards the treated areas may look slightly swollen and feel tender, and the jawline may feel firm for a few days. Small bruises are possible, particularly around the lips and under the eyes. Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas, facial massage and dental work for 48 hours, sleep with your head slightly raised for the first night, and keep make-up off the entry points until the next day.
You will see an improvement straight away, but the true result appears at two to four weeks once swelling has fully resolved. Many clients maintain their result with a smaller top-up at 12 to 18 months, and pair it with skin-quality treatments such as Profhilo, polynucleotides or Tixel skin resurfacing.

Discomfort is mild. Numbing cream is applied first, the fillers contain a local anaesthetic, and blunt cannulas are used for the larger areas, which feel like gentle pressure rather than a sharp scratch. Expect mild swelling for one to three days and the possibility of small bruises. Most people return to work the same or next day; allow two weeks before an important event.
When performed by a doctor using hyaluronic acid fillers, a liquid facelift has a strong safety record. Common side effects are temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, firmness and bruising. Rare complications, including vascular occlusion, are discussed at consultation; our doctors are trained to manage them, and the filler can be dissolved if necessary. Treatment cannot be carried out during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
A full face plan (6-8ml) treats the cheeks, temples, jawline, chin, lips and folds together and is best for overall volume loss or a tired, deflated look. A lower face plan (3-4ml) concentrates on the jawline, chin and marionette area and is best for early jowling, a weak chin or a softening jaw.
